Need to send it for repair but I'm concerned that because it's intermittent they won't find and fix it. But its so random and frustrating. At least in my case we went through a lot of troubleshooting checking system reports, they were looking into network traffic and cables, etc. If it was always the buffer size it would be whatever. The weird thing is it seems to settle down after using it for a while or restarting logic a few times or resetting the buffer size. now the new for ios and pc one will have issues dropping audio on both mac and pc. I am having these exact issues on both pc and mac so it doesnt seem to be a driver thing? Does sending it in for repair fix it? I recently "upgraded" to a duet for mac and pc from the duet 2. Like I said, others in this thread may have had a different issue, but I’m posting this here just in case anyone in a similar scenario stumbles across it.ĭid anyone find a solution to this. Oh well- soon enough I’ll have proper studio monitors again and this won’t be an issue. In my case it was an easy fix- I just turned the headphone out volume down to ~33%, and the volume on my speakers up. It’s been a while since i read the manual but now I seem to recall this was why the duet has an optional power supply, in case it ever has to push too much power to draw over usb alone. I was hooked up to the speakers via the duet's headphone out, and I had the headphone volume on the duet turned up anywhere from 75% to 100%. ![]() I was using my Duet differently than my normal setup- I (temporarily) downgraded from proper powered monitors to an amp+speakers setup. Others in this thread may be having an actual hardware issue. Posting it here in case anyone is having the same problem. Please reach out to me directly we can look into your issue and get it resolved asap. Sorry to hear your having an Issue with your Duet. I'd rather fix it than buy a new unit or change manufacturer.Hello mlau78, Duet 2 and later units have superior sound. I use it for listening to music (with my tube phone amp and HD650) and sometimes also for creating music. I don't want to sell my Duet 2, because it sounds much better than any RME I've used (with RMEs I haven't got any issues ever, though). Maybe it has also something to do with drying capacitors in the power unit. After some warming it works just fine without problems. I have seen that it happens when the unit is "cold", not listened to it yet in the day. Now my current Duet 2 is doing some random dropouts. He said he fixed it by changing its capacitors. My first FW died after a two years of use. You can try resetting the SMC on your Mac, as that is what controls the fans and what (unsurprisingly) SMCFanControl alters to do its work.I have had 5 Apogee Duets (and still have one): 2x FW, 2x Duet 2, 1x iOS. I've used SMCFanControl for years, but when I did a fresh install of Yosemite, it behaved really wonky. Establish minimum speeds for each fan separately. Shows the temperature and speed of the fan on the menu’s bar. Invisible text on macOS Sierra “Dark mode”. SmcFanControl now requires macOS 10.7 or higher. ![]() Now both 'Macs Fan Control' and also 'smcFanControl' can't control the fans anymore and the latter reports that I am running it on an unsupported system. This was a near-perfect solution until I upgrade my system to macOS Sierra. MacOS Sierra (10.12) - based on the desktop photo - presumably is named after the Sierra Nevada mountain range in keeping with Apple's recent theme of naming its Mac operating systems after attractive locations in. MacOS Sierra is the twelfth version of Mac OS X/OS X, so it is reasonable to refer to it as Mac OS X 10.12 or OS X 12, as well.
